Tarwater, aka Bernd Jestram and Ronald Lippok, have been making music together for a while now, starting years ago in a punk band under the wary eye of the East German secret police. Along with fellow travellers Mouse On Mars, To Rococo Rot and Kreidler, Tarwater are creating some of the most adventurous sounds to come out of Germany since the heyday of Krautrock.
[Streaming Tarwater live was quite an adventure. The venue was some dark ex basement under some ex amusement park in some ex germany using some previously working phoneline that was re-connected by some ex employee of east germany’s ex telecommunications dept. but we got the tunes out :-)]
